I suspect the films run is about over. It made a great return but I believe that is due to it's target audience seeing it. The filmmakers could have a bigger budget and make a bigger and better film next time out (As they surely will) but if they keep making after school hallmark specials catered at a specific demographic (a small one) of vanilla lovers; their going to miss out on some serious art and success.

This film grossing around 10 Million (I preume when it's all said and done) will most likley be the gross of their next film, but instead of $500,000 budget, they'll blow their wad on what they reap from this one.

Now here is something that perplexes me:

http://www.amazon.com/Love-Dare-Stephen-Kendrick/dp/0805448853

This is the book in the film by the author who also happens to be the writer and director of the film (With his bro)

Too much agenda for me. Reaks of greed.

I disagree with your prediction on Fireproof... they're widening the release to include over 1000 screens in two weeks... this weekend alone it has 14 more screens, and will hold strong this weekend.

I'm predicting it to hit over 25 million in it's run, with another 20 million in rentals, and possibly 30 million or more in DVD sales.

25,000,000 ? WTF. A film usually does half it's BO the first weekend. That's a bold statement. We'll watch the numbers.

It opened w/ 839 Screens and has in fact, lost 2 Screens (837) according to The Numbers Site.

Strangely, it isn't shown on Thursdays Top FIlms

.. but was the previous day; that's weird. Must be an oversite.

30 Million is DVD Sales ? Hmmmmmmmmm ...

Children Of Men did $25,575,880 in DVD Sales

Grindhouse did $34,632,023 and $32,965,889 for each film

Rocky Balboa did $34,492,275

=============================================

Here are some numbers on Facing the Giants

 1. “Giants” opened in 441 theaters with a box office total of $1.3 million for the first weekend
 2. Total domestic gross was $10.2 million
 3. “Giants” stayed in theaters for 17 weeks, from September 2006 - January 2007
 4. Out of 607 movies released in 2006, “Giants” placed in the top 25% of box office revenues
DVD sales are approaching 1 million units
Rental revenues have reached $12.5 million
Public performance licenses have been granted to 5500 churches
DVDs are being distributed in 56 countries
The film has been translated into 7 languages (with more to come)

Now, I think the football theme really served Facing the Giants; a sporting underdog story, etc.

Let's see if Fireproof can do:

4 Million this weekend. I think that's a magic number. But if it fails to do more than a Million ? Spells trouble.

"Giants" has made over 20 million in DVD sales....

Call me crazy, but I was way low on opening weekend for Fireproof.

So on Thursday, "Fireproof" made more per theater than any other movie. Again I have to wonder -- what would it have done if it had been in 3000+ theaters, like some of the others?

Unless there's any indication that the theaters it was in sold out, it probably would have made the same total amount, just less per theater. :)

That would be true if the additional theaters were all in cities where one or more theaters were already running 'Fireproof'. But theaters added in towns where the movie isn't currently running would not adversely affect, for the most part, box office at existing theaters.

There are 9 theaters in Charlotte running 'Fireproof'. So I have to believe that most of the 800-some-odd theaters showing the movie are concentrated in major cities, though I could be wrong.

It's hard to make apples-to-apples comparisons unless the movie is given the same kind of wide release as other first-run movies. But I believe 'Fireproof' would have done very well.

That's a strect hto suggest the film would have done

8 148 * 3 000 = 24 444 000

Eagle Eye did $29,150,721 for example

Let's be objective.

I wasn't suggesting it would have earned that much per theater in wider release -- only that it would have had an impressive box office, and would be much easier to compare against the other films that did have that sort of wider release.

Not to suggest it is not a good movie or a good story; I have not seen it ...

But it looks like amatuer hour. I can name so many people on this site that have more skilly than what Im seeing from clips and trailers.

That's the part that eludes me.

I got to go with Hudson on this one. The film looks a bit like a Lifetime made for TV movie.

I have yet to see it, it might be fantastic. I am just saying that it looks a little sub par for me.

It also seems there is some sort of SAG rule that if you make a christian film Kirk Camerton has to be in it somewhere.

No disrespect to any filmmkers involved, it certainly more important than anything I have done. I am just saying, it fell a bit short for me on the cinematography.
