SD-monitor on HD-signal?

Can I use the Varizoom VZ-TFT-7 monitor with a camera that outputs 1080 or 1920? What my question migth be is can cameras output SD to a SD-monitor?

If monitoring HD on a SD-monitor, will it be as hard to focus etc. as the LCD on the camera, or worse? Should I consider to buy an HD-monitor instead?

Which camera you are referring to?

As a rule of thumb most digital cameras have an inbuilt down converter for the monitoring signal. If the camera dose not have a down convert option such as the Red1. You need an HD monitor or an external down converter to view the footage on an SD monitor. Other wise you will need an HD monitor to answer your question post the specs of the monitor and camera you want to use.
