Music club promotion video

Hello everybody,

i am going to make promotional video for new music club in Prague which will be in former church. Final video will be made from preparations and first event in the club. I have never made anything like that before so thats why i would appreciate some tips or better some samples from more experienced user (the best would be directly from professionals :) )

Thanks for reply

The best way to do this would be to view it as a commercial. Don't capture any actual sound from your live filming. Make sure everyone there knows it's on camera, and get tons of shots of:
crowd dancing
DJ
Lights spinning and flashing
the bar and bartenders

The real trick will be in how you edit. Quick cuts, panning shots, get a jib arm if you can to get over the crowd shots. Best of luck!

Check what kind of lighting the organizers are planning on having during the night and make sure that you have enough to get a good exposure. Some clubs have enough lightening to get good shots through out the night, others can be complete black holes and the organizers will rarely want you to bring your own huge lights as it can disrupt the party atmosphere.

In my opinion, the best option is to fake it and film most of the beauty shots and close-ups before the main party begins. Ask the organizers to get a group of people (and make sure they all sign a release form), raise the lights till you have enough for your exposure and get most of the shots out of the way while you have control over the setting. Then film the establishing/group/cover shots during the actual party.

Also, just to be on the safe side, put up a notice at the door that warns the attendees that they will be filmed.

Most importantly, have a plan of action. Don't just waste your time filming "everything". Talk to the organizer and figure out a shot list, then go in and shoot what you need, plus a few extra shots for protection.

Like RandomHere mentioned, it's going to be a lot about the editing.
