DVD or MiniDV projection for film festival

Guys,

Quick question, we're running a small film festival and have some short films that are on minidv and dvd (standard def). We have an HD Projector (1920x1080) and a 15 feet x 15 feet screen and we're thinking of getting an upconvert DVD player. Would the quality of those dvds look significantly better than a minidv tape?

The difference in video quality is very small, but I'd go with DVD for better color resolution and a sharper look through the upconversion.
