Help I have 50mins of HD footage that was captured as .mov files
vegas 8 no likey. is there a decent free program out there that, at one
can down res - and to convert to an avi?

I've tried several of the free ones to no avail.
best luck came from Winavi which converted to MPEG 2
without sound

any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

oh yeah, the camera that sony xd.....

Quicktime for PC doesn't support the sony HD codec,
from what I've read I have to get them re-wrapped in FCP (what they were captured in)
and export them...
