Price progno$tication$ : flash mem cameras?

What do you all think will happen with prices on the solid state cameras, like the Sony XDCam, Red, and so on, in the next two years? Percentage price drop? (guesses)

With technology getting better and better, what e.g. do you think a complete Red system will cost in a couple of years? (I figure about $25k right now for a functioning Red system, just guessing)

That all depends what you mean exactly.

I mean, looking at history - you could get today what people drooled over 5 years ago for a song. Of course the rub of that is that today no one wants to shoot on technology that was hot 5 years ago.

Point is - technology gets better and better...and what most of us want and expect from our gear climbs with that curve.

So do you mean how much would a RED system from today cost in a couple of years?
Or do you mean how much will the latest tech from RED cost in a couple of years?

Either way of course, it's all kind of voodoo.

I've found that with technology, you have to buy in at some point, and you get what you pay for in most cases. If I want the latest tech, I will have to pay top dollar. There is always something new and better right around the corner...
 
I say in 5 years a Red will be had second-hand for $10K. Just my wager. I bought my first DVX and it was worth half as much as I paid (on the second hand market) 2 years later.
