what should i call my self on my card

It was almost touched on above...

The old addage is... "I don't care what you call me... as long as you sign the check".

I put Wordsmith/Visual Composer on mine.

When people ask what I do, I say "I make pictures sing".

At least if they see my reel and vomit, they'll know I'm a good writer at least. :D

The absolute best ever card I got was from a successful name in the television biz. The card had his name, phone and EXPERT. It is the only card I remember from that show (about 5 years ago). And he truly was a highly regarded expert.

His card stood out from the crowd of " Senior Head of Creativity - Managing Supervisor of Animation - Executive Producer , blah, blah blah..." cards that weekend (over 100 cards).Even though they were all real VIPs, the titles all blended together. But I still remember that one card. Smart guy!

What I'm saying is that simple- at a glance information, trumps long winded every time. Oh, if you are thinking of using expert, just make sure you are.

Hmmm, maybe filmmaker is not the best then. I guess I wanted a card that would cover multiple positions.

I think I will just make multiple cards and give out the right card for the right occasion.

.

filmmaker is almost too generic in my opinion. If you want to do a specific job, ex. cinematographer put that. If you don't want to limit yourself to a specific catagory leave it blank and make sure the back of the card is blank because you can write a message specific to the person you're giving it too.

Yeah jrmiller, I am going to stick with Director of Photography, and my other cards will be other jobs I like to do, maybe one blank as another poster suggested-to be written on later.

How about just your name and the companies, keep it simple. Half the people you'll give that card to won't know half of our tech terms anyway.
