Cinevate Handgrips?

Lol. nope. It's a Canon FD L lens. Pretty sure Zeiss 85mm f1.2's do not exist unless you go PL mount. I went with Canon FD system because it's been largely abandoned by most still photographers, so their fast glass is comparatively cheaper than Nikon, and actually rotates in the right direction.

Got the custom top handle on ebay from someone selling their dvx redrock gear. Had to adapt it for use on an hvx with a little ingenuity. Love it, couldn't think of working without it now. It essentially makes the rig into a solid one piece ENG type camera and makes it super easy to carry.

Using a Nebtek monitor with right angle bnc's. The screen is awesome, highly recommend it. I like the fact that the I/O board is separate from the LCD panel. It allows me to flip the I/O board inward so connections don't get jarred accidentally, also reduces cable strain. I often wonder how lcd panels like the Carrion will fair in time once cables get tugged around, seems like cable connections are soldered directly to the main board of that unit

Couple more pics enclosed. My goal was to have the a light handheld, low cg, balanced setup. Spent many hours tinkering to get this low mount redrock setup. Hate all those riser contraptions most of the 35mm manufacturers have decided to got with.

that is such a nice rig!!
it's so compact and I like the way you didn't use the Redrock rizer so the camera wouldn't rize.

now, when you go shoulder mout, what do you do tho?
do you use the pads from filmtool and just put the rig on your shoulder?
is it confertable?
the rig looks like it's side heavy (because of the Nebtek) but do you have good balance?

For handheld I just use the comfort cushion from film tools. Works well, it's pretty comfy, cheap, and eases shoulder pain. Sometimes I attach the pad to the camera, other times I put it on my shoulder as intended. Depends on whether I am doing low waist level shots. The camera weighs about 19lbs all together so it gets heavy after a while. I think I'll eventually get a dvtec eng rig to make it even easier to hold and pull focus when handheld. It's definitely pretty balanced. It's slightly side heavy, but I brought the Nebtek close to the cg of the camera so it's pretty negligible.

To set it up like that with the cam how and rr high you shimmed the rods instead of the camera? Does that throw off using matteboxs off at all? Redrock makes it sound it like does.

I decided to shim RR baseplate only. I'm not sure if it would throw a mattebox off at all (I don't really use one) the height of the M2/lens in relation to the rods is the same as stock. Only catch is rods don't go all the way through, they stop at the front end of the camera, hence my short rails.

Early on I decided against a RR mattebox because I was tired of the delays, and figured I'd save a few pounds. Matte boxes seemed like overkill for what I needed anyway, and went against my goal of having a lighter weight rig. I simply use 77mm step up filters on all my lenses with a combination of metal shades depending on focal length. I use 77mm screw on NDs. They're pretty quick, and much cheaper and lighter than 4x4s.
Flare protection is fine with my simple metal shade combination. Matteboxes look pretty cool though, makes rigs look pretty pro. Might cave in and get one eventually.
