The Olympus E-system thread

First shot with the new E-3. Not much but still learning here:)

My girlfriend used the e-510 to shoot me with the new camera. Though the 510 was on auto she did a fine job for her first DSLR shoot.

The last image above is what I was shooting here:)

The 70-300 was on the 510 when I spotted this guy and I knew as soon as he got wind of me he'd be gone. This is a tight crop as I couldn't get any closer.

A few more e-3 test shots. I'm still getting to know this camera and still have to look for the button I need. These are not exactly inspired shots but I'm getting more of the camera knowledge moving to the back of my brain so it's second nature.

Stunning work as always Mino.

My two favorites are the Criket straight on and the Dragonfly. How did you manage to get the Dragonfly, or is that a much larger image that has been cropped?

Splended photos!

Thanks Matt. the dragonfly is cropped but I'll have to look at the original to determine why and get back to you. When Iv'e shot similar shots with the 510 I've only been able to get them with the camera set in sports mode...So I looked at the exif data in these 510 shots and applied the settings more or less to the E-3 managing to somewhat wangle a shot.

I think I like this series un-cropped. Thanks for promoting me to revisit the Edit. This is the next one in that shoot with no crop....Better I think:)

I think so too. This one really gives not only the same great look, but the extra space to the right really gives a sense of direction to the subject.

Cool beans chief.

This was the first horse race I ever attended so I don't know my butt from a pile of beans but I'll tell ya...When they put these creatures in the starting gate, none of them go willingly. Maybe it's simply the gate itself they don't like, maybe when the gate opens and they're halfway down the track they're totally in their element but then comes the ass beating with the stick from a little man on your back who you could stomp flat one on one. I'll go again...Mid December at around 6pm when the track is lit by floods and the steam is pouring from their nostrils. This image captured the moment just before the horse reached the starting gate.

Dude, everytime I see you shooting a dragon fly...it impresses the crap out of me. I don't know I could ever get focus on one of those guys.

Thanks Dan...They are tricky to focus on without a doubt and a long lens will quite often miss and hunt and that's very frustrating. With a bit of patience, I can sometimes get a shot like this.
