looks pretty good... doesnt it? Nice DOF.
there is some talk of using MF lenses here on this forum.
Look just a couple of posts down

Very interesting. It would be nice to see some video footage on XHA1 and DVX200 using this adaptor.

I will certianly consider it an option when I purchase an adaptor later this year.

Winston, where can get the cool viewfinder for the LCD screen that you have on the camera used in the pictures?

I made that viewfinder using the camera screen and a mirror to flip the image, unfortunately it's still flipped right to left, but I can work with it. The actual eye piece is from a Panasonic SVHS pro camera. I had 2 viewfinders for it and used one of them for the eyepiece.

check out footage from the adapter at www.vimeo.com/847176

not a 100% on the compression but I'll get there...

If you want to see some footage shot with the Prodofa medium format adapter by a local production company check out www.monstarfilms.com

To all the doubters and “experts” that said that Winston Vargas’ adapter, the 70MM Pro Optic, wasn’t any good without actually seeing any footage from it, you can check it in action and witness the sharpest adapter in the market! The guys at www.monstarfilms.com made it work for them and produced some really fine looking footage. You can even see the ground glass as the adapter is been attached in one scene and it looks fabulous.
All you guys wrestling with the edge-to-edge sharpness, loss of light and focusing issues with the other adapters out there, you are really wasting your time and money. You can’t beat this adapter, and for the price it is really a steal. As for the ones that said that medium format lenses might be bigger and bulkier, etc. not true either. They are about the same size as 35mm lens. To the guys at Monstar Films, congratulations. Great choice of adapter and great work. Keep it coming. And to Winston, keep at it. Your adapter really rocks.

Well said, but not as you thought. Winston Varga so farr didn't showed any "normal" video futage to prove the quality. Even this showreel at it's high compression isn't proove for anything.

Since he don't want to play by normal marketing standards which are set by other adapter manufacturers ( like full res videos and pics, and sending units to beta tester ). Evey time he showed up with his posts it looks like a spammer, who is waiting for newbies to try his products without any reasonoble prooves.

I personally don't have anything against Winston, but I get angry every time I see his post calling peple to buy his adapter.

If his product have an value, he must stop using Tupperware and Amway marketing approach..

Cheers, and happy shooting

Maybe im missing something! Is their footage that i am not seeing? this footage does not look anywhere close to film or anything like it. I do not even see any good examples of shallow d.o.f. Im not not being mean, just honestly curious. What is the big deal with this adapter?

It is fine. Those who have bought it thru Adorama; and last I look they don't sell either Tupperware or Amway, just mighty good photo and video equipment; are really enjoying its benefits and its sharpness, and that is good enough. Thanks God we live in a democracy and have freedom of choice.
And if the work from Monstar Films doesn't look to some of the "experts" here like film it is fine too.
The big deal again with this adapter is a medium format size GG that doesn't need an achromat to enlarge its image which is projected from a medium format lens, thus giving an excellent and sharp image to work with. Thats all.... Oh... and the price, is pretty good too.

John,

Maybe you can convince Winston to just post a few full res HD screen shots and a short full res HD clip. I really like the concept of medium format adapters but like most people I'm not willing to spend $$ without some proof of concept. I don't think that is an unreasonable request. You know what they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words..." Posting some shots and clips will speak volumes about the quality and frankly, if they are good, will sell the adapter without any other advertising.

How much light loss is on this adapter? And how far can you close the iris before you start seeing grain?

Less than 1/2 stop and grain begings to show at F/8. that's where the vibrator helps. Remenber the size of the groundglass and the fact that there's nothing between the groundglass and the camera lens. Place a prism to flip the image and unless the laws of physics no longer exist there has to be light loss.

please keep this updated because I would be interested in purchasing if you post a hell of a lot more videos and lots of pictures of the adapter.
