DVD Copyright Protection

I'm trying to get DVD Studio Pro 4 to enable "copy generation management" as in I want my dvd copy protected. but, every time I try to burn a dvd, these errors pop up:

"This device does not support copy generation management. The disc will not be protected.
This device does not support CSS. The disc will be unencrypted.
This device does not support Macrovision. The disc will not be protected."

Why is this happening? and which "device" is DVD Studio Pro referring to?

Thanks,

I'm not as familiar with DVD Studio pro, however in Adobe Encore, the only device that supports copy protection is DLT tape.

Thats because when the Master image is written to DLT Tape, there is a metadata file (DDP) made that tells the mastering machine "Hey, add CSS encryption to this disc".

Its done that way since the replication plant pays for the license to make CSS discs, and it keeps the cost of the software down.

I guess I'm a little confused because DVD Studio Pro 4 has a button that says it enables copy generation management, CSS, and Macrovision. Am I missing some additional soft/hardware or is DVD Studio Pro just being a dick.

Unless apple has licensed CSS encryption to be used in the software, it only flags the ISO to have CSS encryption, but it doesn't have it.

I would test it on some NERO or ROXIO software. It will notify you if the disc has CSS encryption and will not allow you to copy it.

You won't be able to burn a DVD with copy protection.

that is why Encore needs do go to DLT tape,

the only way is by replication.

that said, check out Macrovision ripGuard. again you are only gonna stop the casual copiers, the determined guys will get passed it easy.
