Hey, as the topic states, im going to borrow a friends letus35 FE, and I havent really operated one before, I know how to set it up and all but how do you shift your focus and change the aperture? From what I understand you will basically have double of everything, except zoom as im using a prime lens (50mm 1.4 canon) so which aperture should i mix around with? both? how should i focus, using both focus rings?

Really clueless, and I DID try to search the forum, but this seemed to be "over" obvious so none really asked it, but oh well!

also, if you have any tips on which settings give me a sharp nice picture, shoot me :)

thankz

I continued to try and find out this myself, and im still unsure of which focus ring / apperture ring to use since I've seen people say "only use SLR focus" and vice versa, so what shall the lens be put to in that case?

Focus on your subject with your SLR lens. The video camera just focuses on the imaging element in the adapter which becomes your backfocus. Once set you leave it and make sure it doesn't change otherwise you'll get soft footage.

Exposure is set with both your SLR iris and the video cam's electronic iris. Here's a method to try:

Set SLR iris so desired depth of field is achieved. Now dial in exposure with video cam's iris and use internal ND's if necessary. Fine tune from here.

Through trial and error you'll find a system that works for you. Best of luck.

Thank YOU!

This is what I needed to hear from someone who has actually done it.
What I didnt quite understand is where the xh-a1 (cameralens) should be focused at, somewhere in the adapter but how do I find out where to keep it?

Guess ill just try around and Ill find it but id like to know the fact :)

Right!. set your "back focus" first. Stop down on your prime lens and turn off the vibration. then focus your camera's focus so that the grain of the ground glass is super sharp. now, never focus with the stock lens again. the back focus is set. focus with your prime lens now. never iris past a 5.6 with the letus FE. it's not the best low light adapter out there, in fact get the the extreme if ya can, but outside, the FE is an incredible adapter.l also, watch out for shooting "all the way open" on both lenses: you definitely aren't shooting as sharp as you could. Best results: F4. I think you will like the results; check out this video shot entirely with the FE with multiple primes (now I have the extreme but loved the FE when I had it)
