Chick flicks you are embarrased to like.

I am embarrassed to say i enjoyed Just Like Heaven... What can i say Reese Witherspoon is just so charming....and i happen to be a Mark Ruffalo fan.

Another one i am not as ashamed to have enjoyed but still embarrassing nonetheless is Hitch... Im a Will Smith (and obviously Eva Mendes) fan...So i guess that explains that one.

since i'm a chick, i probably don't count, since it's not embarrassing to me to like them.

but i will tell you my favourite chick flick of all time is called Untamed Heart, with marisa tomei and christian slater. and rosie perez. i think it's one of the sweetest movies i've ever seen and i have every line memorized.

thats kinda embarrassing. heh.

I have no shame. I like romances.

(MY Favs)

Titanic
Atonement
Casablanca
About Last Night
When Harry Mey Sally
The Notebook
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Say Anything
Moonstruck

I can't wait to see Nights in Rodanthe and Briseshed Revisted

Bridges of Madison County.

Near the end, when Clint Eastwood is standing in the rain and Meryl Streep wants to open the car door and run to him. Well, let's just say the rain falling on Clint was nothing compared to the tears running down my face. My girlfriend and I watched it together but after watching Bridges of Madison County she never looked at me the same way again so we had to break up.

There's a difference between romances and romantic comedies, and films that are geared to appeal primarily to women. Not sure any of the films on your list really qualify as chick flicks, but it's a fine line.

Umm, aside from Westerns, "chick flicks" are my favorite genres. If you can call it a genre'. More of a sub-genre really. I'm secure with it but I get grief sometimes for saying it. But, its the best type of movie to watch if you like character driven stories where acting rules in favor of fast paced editing and exploding cars.

Pretty Woman
and The Notebook have to top the list. I stop what I am doing every time I catch a glimpse of them on TV.

I also love it when "chick flicks" combine a slice of Americana...love that. Movies that appear to be shot in small town America, kids playing in a field, sleepy towns, dusty roads, pretty much everything you see on Country Time Lemonade commercial.

Fried Green Tomatoes
The Notebook (already mentioned but fits the catagory)
Thelma and Louise
Phenomenon (probably not a chick flick)
Hope Floats (not great. but good and set in small town u.s.a)
Doc Hollywood
Steel Magnolias
Bull Durham (but has enough baseball to not be so chicky)

I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton...

UPDATE: The Holiday. Totally charming chick flick. It was on TV tonight (8/28) and every time I catch it, it gets better and better. sue me.

You DVXuser people and your Fine Lines for genre. I mean give a little willya?
80% of Hudson's list is SO Chick Flick.
Titanic? Moonstruck?? the goddamned NOTEBOOK??? c'MON.
Batutta you must be bitter from the whole sci fi ghostbusters debacle.

anything by James L. Brooks or Cameron Crowe.

Excluding Vanilla Sky and Tom Petty Live. And POTENTIALLY Almost Famous...but I dunno it's pretty chickish.
Although I can't believe you, my own brother, are into Elizabethtown.

How 'bout a little history: All About Eve, or A Letter to Three Wives. Philadelphia Story??
