Is it possible to put HD video on a DVD that will play on a PS3?

It's my understanding that a PS3 can play an AVC-HD DVD. So author the disc as an AVC-HD disc and yeah, it should work. I believe Pinnacle Studio 12 (either Plus or Premium) has AVC-HD authoring capability.

Yes. The PS3 will play MP4 files encoded in the H264 codec. For example, you can take just about any HD quicktime trailer from Apple's site, and in Quicktime Pro, export it out as an MP4, with audio and video settings set to "pass through". When you put the DVDR in your PS3, you just have to go through the menu and open the MP4 file on the disc.

I burned a mp4 file (MPEG-4) to DVD-R that I exported from Premiere under Quicktime>h264 and PS3 doesn't support it. What's the proper export settings for a PS3 compatible mp4?

Also does adobe encore support AVC-HD authoring?

Sounds like you should be using Quicktime Pro.

How much can you put on a normal DVD? And do all blue ray players play AVC-HD? If so couldn't you just burn to a DVD9 and make something of a blueray disc? This would solve the blueray authoring problems for indies.

Sorry to hijack, has anyone tried the same thing with XBOX 360 (except perhaps using WMV-HD?)
