Raising rates on previous clients?

i have this band that i did a music video for a few months ago before my company really was started, and i gave them a very low rate. cuz we needed the practice and show reel stuff and blah blah.

now they would like us to film them again, but since then i've started my company and am charging like 3 times what i charged them.

i'm pretty sure it's unfair to charge them my new current rate, but just wondering what you guys think?

that's an idea. i'm actually just kinda worried that if i raise it, even a little, they'll change their mind. and i'll leave a bit of a bad taste in their mouth about our company, when previously they were obviously very happy.

u know?

it isn't unfair to charge them the new rates, in the past, they got a great deal assuming you did a good job, and since they want you back I'm assuming you did.

Thant being said, if you feel you owe them because it helped you get started then by all means help them out again. just ask them to keep what they pay quiet. do another great job for them, and they may bring you more band at full rate.

Since you gave them a low startup, I think it would be fair to up the prices. If you feel like helping them, help them - they might send you some new clients.

In my experience one band hasn't really helped find another band, ironically, so the whole "oh if you do a great job with one band then every other band will hear about it," eh, I don't know, not really. Bands talk, but I think a lot of bands aren't even in the position of wanting a music video.

I would up the rates to a fair level.
