Exporting from FCP to AE?

I posted in the AE section not too long ago but didn't get much out of it.

Can someone fill me in on how to export footage from FCP and import into AE?

I know I could export as a QT file but what's the BEST way to do this and still NOT lose any quality in the footage?

Someone mentioned using a script to do this but it sounds complicated. I'm having a hard time believing that it's this difficult to get this done.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Jay

if you export quicktime at the same size and codec as you are editing, there is no quality loss. this is the easiest way to do it.

As I posted in the other forum where you asked this question, output in DV format if you are using DV format. Since I'm not using HD at this time, I would suggest that if your are using DVCPRO HD, then again output that in DVCPRO HD. If you are using HDV, perhaps then I'd output in an intermediate 'lossless' form. Takes a lot of space, but then there is no question about compression lost during intermediate processing.

AfterEffects will import anything that QT has a codec for. (At least all the codecs I've ever used...)

I don't know how much more simple you want to get.

This is a topic I'll need some help with soon as well. Say I'm putting titles over footage. All I would need to do is razor tool the start and end points of that footage, nest it in a new sequence and export just that little clip, correct?
