camcorder compatibility with FCP and/or Mac

So many places I read say that FCP and iMovie are compatible with 99.9999 of mini-dv firewire camcorders.

But I've run into problems with two cheapies in a row - Samsung and JVC (both of course mini-dv and firewire)

Anybody know definitive info re compatibility or where I can find.

hmmmm... dv cams with firewire are pretty universal. have you tried different cables? is your computer's firewire port working? maybe try one of your non-working cams on another computer that is known to work with dv cams. simple troubleshooting will tell you what isn't working. as far as a difinitive list for fcp goes, i would try apple.com....
