Good Wide angle Lens size

More details would be helpful in giving suggestions. What are you trying to film? Indoor or outdoor primarily? Which adapter are you using? Which camera are you using? etc.

I've used as wide as a 10mm Nikon but only for certain types of shots. 24mm is pretty wide but make sure you get one that's as fast as you can afford. If you can't get anything below 2.5 on any of your lenses I would recommend not getting it at all unless it's strictly for outdoor stuff.

24 or 28 will be fine. I bought a 28, but then I bought a 35. I'll probably trade my 28 for a 24 one of these days to get a bigger gap between the sizes.

Im shooting on a DVX 100A, and have letus extreme. Im shooting both indoor and outdoor. For the majority of this next shoot im doing is going to be indoor, But Im still in post Im just getting my lenses primed and organzized

If I were you I would try a 24mm f2 if you can afford it. I have a 28mm f2.8 and have been less than happy with it. I get lots of vignetting with it. Also, we've used the not-so-great kit lens that comes with most Nikon DSLRs(18-55mm). It's pretty slow but cheap and we simply fix the aperture open with a piece of tape or paper since these do not have an aperture ring. If you are interested in how to do this I can send you some pictures. This is a decent, cheap lens for outdoor shooting.

the nikon 24 f2 has a lot of distortion. I really don't like using for anything other than lanscapes. I think the vignetting will change depending on which adapter and camera you're using.

Well obviously I have an older camera, but the combo Of the LE and DVX 100A have been pretty good to me. I just havent had the extra income to purchase a new camera. Been thinking of selling the 100A but then I know I would want it afterwards. So Im stuck here I hear 24 f2 and no not the 24 f2 it could cause some distortion, obviously Matt your using an HVX and Sgpro, Sean what is your set up. I tend to alternate between my canon and Nikon lenses too, I'm a Photo major and I like the color tones canon has, But Nikon wins the battle quite a bit. But the stuff I shoot and have been shooting lately has been a skatevideo for a team in Michigan, and I've been working on some canable flicks. So I like to have them looka little off with color, look 70's ish with out having to go into AE. But not John waters Pink Flamingos look. Heh. Wish I had a 16 MM.

Havent bought one yet and was wondering what is a good MM sized lens to get for wide angle? I use canon and Nikon.

THanks
Brian

Generally speaking in photography, a 28mm wide lens is considered to be the sweetspot, remaining close to what the eye sees without any distortion.

Cook, I have a Canon A1 with a flipped Brevis MP.1 and Nikons. 28 f2.8(bad vignetting), 50 1.8(one of my favorite all purpose lenses), 105 2.5(favorite but not usable in all situations), 35 f2(decent when I need a wider lens), 18-55(ok outdoors with aperture wide open), 55-200(about the same as the 18-55).

I primarily use the 50 and the 105 but I have used a 10mm for weird shots and it works really well when lit correctly but you have to zoom in quite a bit.

Hope this helps.
