Can film scanners scan unprocessed negatives?

Hey,

I'm not really up on still photography, in the days of film I sent them off to a lab and then it was all digital...

However, I've got one or two still cameras knocking about, got a Contax T2 and a Yashica T4 and want one to get a cheap but decent film cameras with manual stuff to take some nice b+w's.

The problem is film is so expensive to process, at least where I am, and the results are always bleh.

I've seen one or two scanners about but I believe they can scan in a processed negative, I was wondering if there's anything or a way etc to use a scanner to scan in unprocessed negatives, to save me the cost sending them off or taking them to the chemist etc, plus to give a bit more control.

Cheers!

An unprocessed negative has no image. The image is still latent.

The good news is that developing film, especially black and white, is very simple and can be done with a minimum of fuss.

You'll need a developing kit, and you can even do it without a darkroom. If you'd be interested in trying it, I can direct you to some resources.
