Ok, I admit it, I guess I must be dumb

Trying to finish this edit but still having issues with audi & video sync. Every thing's ready to burn a dvd and encode & upload to the web but..... When I export a Quicktime Movie, one talking head clip is outta sync. Now here's where my problem, just learning FCE, comes in. Every thing's rendered and looks great and syncs up in the time line but not in the Quicktime Movie, so I'm trying to adjust the clip that's outta sync in the time line but when I use "apple L" on audio tracks 1 & 2 and adjust these tracks I now hear a second talking head audio coming from the music tracks 3 & 4... I know, it's confusing... So in simpler terms if I totally delete audio tracks 1 & 2 with the talking head audio and play the clip I still hear the talking head audio but it's now coming from the Soundtrack music on audio tracks 3 & 4... What am I doing wrong here or have I totally screwed the pooch on this ? I really need to get this clip back in sync.

I've encoded this several different ways and uploaded a couple to an ftp site to check. The one I encoded & uploaded as Flash with an embedded Flash player has NO syncing problem. It syncs up fine but any Quicktime Movie is off by a couple of frames and any Windows Media movie is off by a frame or two as well. This is my last day at this or I'll have to take the footage in to an editing house to let them figure this out. 8^(

Many thanks for any suggestions...

Steve

When I was making a quicktime file conversion mine was out of sync too, so I used compressor and it worked. So if you still have the original, run it through compressor with the correct settings based on the camera you used and see if that fixes it, it worked for me.

Thanks for the quick reply !
Compressor is grayed out so I can't choose it.... Not sure what you mean by "if you still have the original".... Sorry, still learning FCE and all the lingo. 8^)

Thanks,

Steve

If you still have your original sequence before you started making changes to the audio tracks, you should be able to use compressor instead of making a qt conversion... but maybe Final Cut Express doesn't let you use compressor? If that is the case, then my advice won't help.

I don't think FCE lets me use compressor... I've not tried but have noticed that every time I've pulled down the menu it's been grayed out.
