How Sad

How Sad

In a country of over 33 million people, sadly there are going to be a number of people who are mentally ill and violent. Chances are the guy who did it is so messed up that he thought that his own life was in danger from the person next to him. We know he wasn't but to a person with paranoia, other people are trying to kill you all the time.

Sounds completely random. He sat at the front of the bus when he first got on. Got off to have a smoke during one of the stops, and chatted with a young lady. Then he got back on and sat at the very back next to the victim.

Sad.

Careful with any death penalty or talk of terrorists please guys.
In otherwords, please don't go there.
Did some small post cleaning up, hope you understand.

Yes, remember DVXUSER is a place to feel warm and fuzzy with warm and fuzzy people.:)

Well it is a place to not get wrapped up in debates that aren't winnable and only divide people. Hence the no politics or religion rules. Unless of course you want your posts deleted and to get potentially banned. I like to think of it as that kind of place less so than a warm and fuzzy one.

well the ONLY positive is that they caught the guy (from my understanding) so hopefully he will not cause anyone else any more harm.

I wonder if the guy had any mental issues, its possible, usually homicides are more calculated and with very strong motives, not just seemingly random action as this one, which indicates more a unrational act then pre-meditated.

...... sick to my stomach just thinking about it. :(
EDIT: Chilling witness account HERE

"everyone ran to the front of the bus....."

There have been a number of incidents on airlines where the opposite happens.
Someone acts nutty and there is an instant pile on, i.e. Game Over.
Too bad that wasn't the case. Perhaps the kid may have lived.

"the police arrived in about 10 minutes or so......"

such is reality. More people need act they are in an airplane.

God help the family of that poor innocent kid.

I read that first thing this morning and watched the telecast.

We've had at least one bus stabbing before, from a, well, terrorist type from a country we are at war with.

Maybe it one of those deals.

Things have been civil here in terms of the discourse - thanks everyone, and while I'm curious about this story ...

.... because it throws my sense of security in the world a bit out of whack and therefore I want to know about it and understand it as much as possible ...

... I think this thread is kind of a powder keg for discourse on the death penalty, the police, terrorism, etc., and have thought better about starting it in the first place.

So. Locking it down. This is not a response to any one person's post, just a concern I have over where things might head on a pretty volatile and sensitive topic.

Maybe, take a moment for the victim, his family, and the people on the bus according to your beliefs.
