Holy crap.

This is really bizarre and unsettling.

Guy just starts randomly stabbing the sleeping kid (18-20) sitting next to him in the neck.

Everybody freaks and runs of the (now pulled over) bus. Group of men goes back on to try and help the victim to discover the killer now standing there with the guy's severed head in one hand and a butcher knife in the other like something out of a "B" horror movie.

So they all run off again. Truck driver stops and gives the men wrenches and crowbars and they are able to keep the guy on the bus till the police arrive.

What the hell?

I feel awful for the kid and his family. This is just horrible.

How random and messed up. Wow.

This isn't so bizzare if you've ever actually been on a Greyhound bus. That will turn anyone homicidal.

good lord. i can't believe this happened.

Yeah it seems like something you'd read about in America, only it would have been a gun instead of a knife. It would have been over quicker for the poor kid, but there would have been more dead.

I guess these things happen. I mean they'd have to right? - all the people in the world someone has to go Michael Myers all of a sudden sometime. But still. Gives you pause.

i take greyhounds regularly. i remember when i got stopped in california somewhere to switch buses, they actually searched peoples bags for weapons and stuff.. but this guy probably still would have gotten through with a kitchen knife.. well, they shouldnt let you take it on the bus part. just on the luggage underneath. god that's scary!

Yeah you wonder if the guy was the kind of nuts that he knew he was going to go on a bus and do this to someone. Or the kind of nuts where he was carrying a knife around ready to pop and he couldn't stand the tinny music leaking from the kids headphones, or the way he shifted in his sleep or what.

I read that this morning and my jaw dropped. It literally sounded like someone describing a scene from a grisly horror flick.

Yeah I think that's partially why it's so disturbing to me. I would write a scene like that and direct and shoot it fairly lightly in terms of my attitude for the content in a larger social context, dismissing it as something fantastical, like aliens or a boogieman or something. But this hits me in a way that's anything but light.

Sadly... I actually thought it would make for a creepy opening to a movie.

I feel terrible for the kid though. I can't even begin to imagine what his family must be going through. What a senseless loss. :(

it reminds me of meursault's response to the glare of the sun in "the stranger".

This kind of thing always reminds of something. Whenever I'm watching a movie where some guy snaps and kills someone there is always someone who says...

"Nobody would kill someone over something so small."
To which I reply...
"People have killed complete strangers over far less."

It's a sad world that we live in.

I wonder if this is the same psycho that's been killing prostitutes (25 total) in Edmonton since the 70's. There was some speculation that he'd left the area as there hadn't been a recent killing.

Yeah, decapitation, especially slow and deliberately while one is conscious, is probably one of the least attractive things in life to experience (IMHO).

Thankfully he was probably long dead before decapitation. They say he stabbed him close to 50 times.

I certainly hope he wasn't conscious for that.
Man, I'm getting sick to my stomach just thinking about it. :(

EDIT: Chilling witness account HERE

Actually, depending on what part of the U.S. you are in, this wouldv'e been over much sooner as soon as the maniac stabbed someone, he wouldv'e been put down with a hot lead injection.
