collider objects in editor window (C4D)

Is there a way to set any object to be a collider of any other object in the editor? For example, let's say I have two cubes. I want to be able to set cube 1 so I cannot drag cube 2 through it...

You'll need the Dynamics module or the hair module. I think you can do it with Xpresso but it would be complicated.

I have both the dynamics and hair modules.

I only know how to have objects collide with eachother in a calculated simulation. Is there a way to prevent objects from passing through eachother when you are just dragging them around in the editor window?

It seems like it would make things a lot easier... for example, if it isn't possible, then do people always have to watch out for arms and limbs passing through a character's body? Would people need to carefully line up each step so it looks like a character's foot is on the ground, but isn't passing through? Then it seems like animating a rolling footstep to look natural would be absolute hell...

Actually, it was absolute hell. I made a 3 minute animation for a publishing company a few months back using a rigged character. Each step I had to carefully line up and monitor to make sure it was on the ground but not passing through. After many many hours, it still looked a bit awkward in the end. I don't get it.

There's no way I know of to have objects not collide in the editor, unless some xpresso code was invloved that would update the calculations on a screen refresh.

Characters can have IK constricts that help. There are ways to keep the legs from going through the floor and a pile of other tricks that I still have to learn myself.

3DKiwi has a simple rigging tutorial that clamps the feet to the height of the floor.
