Can you add a bullet wound in post?

I shot a suicide a scene for my first film. And basically the shot is an ECU of his face with blood running on the ground behind him. But since he put the gun under his chin there should be a wound there. (total Rookie mistake). Is there any way to add this in post? I have After Effects CS3 with FCP HD. He is completely motionless and shot lasts about 4 seconds. I have LS coverage as well but I really like the ECU.:dankk2:

yeah since it is an ECU, tracking should be relatively easy in AE, and as raptor mentioned, you can composite a wound into place and add the tracking data.

how long does the ECU shot last on screen?, can you upload the ECU?

If it is an ECU, why not reshoot it? Extreme Close Ups are the easiest shots to do.

It is most definitely possible to do this digitally, but it requires a lot of skill to do well. One of the most important skills for FX is to know which special effects should be done the old fashioned way and which should be done digitally.

we have all the make up we need to do a re-shoot. I might as well just re-shoot it. The shot only lasts for a about 4 seconds
