The 2700K (green package) 100W CFL's that usually sell for $6.88 a 2-pk are on sale for $2.99 as are the 4-pk of 60W.

I also saw the Bright White (red package) 2-pks for the same sale price. Unfortunately the blue 5500K Daylights were still regular price.

I know a lot of you guys use these in your lanterns and such. Just thought I'd give a heads up.

No problem. Just double check with your local store first. I was at a different Home Depot last night and saw nothing of the sale, but this morning there were solid cases of them sitting on the floor in the aisle at the store by where I work. They come packed in cardboard boxes, not the plastic "clamshell" casing they usually come in. Well, I've never seen them in boxes, anyway.

There seems to be some kind of contest on the box as well. If one of your bulbs glows green, you win $5000! How ironic. If I win, I can buy better lights!

Odd contest, but sounds good. I work a couple blocks from an HD so I'll just swing by and see what I can find on my way home. Thanks for the tip on the boxes as well. I'm used to the clamshell packaging...

I'm curious to see if it's store wide. I just double checked the box and the "See Green" contest ended on 5/31/08. It's possible this store was just getting rid of overstock? I also see no indication if the sale online. Probably should have looked into all that before I opened my mouth. Oh well, lemme know how it goes. And my apologies if it turns out to be a wild goose chase.

Those 2700s are just too red for me. The 3500s are ok, and I love the 5500s (and so do the cameras).

I just wish the 5500s came in the 150w versions like the 2700k ones...

Oh no problem I just thoughtve 15 other things I need to get there, so it definitely wont be a wasted trip. I'll let you know what I find out.

And my apologies if it turns out to be a wild goose chase.

You should never have to apologize for trying to help out your fellow film-makers. I for one appreciate your time and effort in letting us know about this possible deal. Especially since my fixture fell 2 days ago and broke 3 of my 5500k bulbs. :(

I got a bunch of the 5500s a few weeks a go, but they are only 15 watts, and I am looking for something brighter (30W minimum) if anyone has any suggestions.

Anyone know what the CRI on those bulbs is?

Jim, I have a few 40w 5500k bulbs that I got at Home Depot. I imagine they carry these in more places than just Austin.

Not sure of the CRI. I remember hearing ~83 at some point.
