Which Camera Maping Matte Painting Dvd Do You Recommend?, DVgarage or Gnomon workshop

When I was really looking into all of the 3d stuff, everyone recommended Gnomon for everything. They're such well done videos.

I haven't seen any but I looked at the sites previews.

I didn't like the gnome one from what I saw of it. A guy dilly dallying around playing with a photoshop brush and not really explaining anything.
Makes me think how much usefull info will there be on this dvd if he just wasted that much of my time.

I liked the presentation of the dvgarage better but it was too short to say I'd recommend it.

So, I guess that's not much help. :)

Thanks guys it seems the Gnomon one is newer and I hear good things about them but as Raptor said from the examples it seems he to dilly dally around.

I'll have to go and watch the preview... I have seen quite a few of the Gnomon DVDs and thought they were all well done... but there are always exceptions. If he's just going through Photoshop and not really giving useful techniques, then it might just be a waste of time. I'll have to check out the other one too...

Could of just been a bad segment to pull for the preview too because like you said I've seen so many positive reviews about Gnomon DVDs.

thanks tom.

Gnomon is great. Sometimes their guys rip along at wicked fast rates. They know their stuff though.

But I do tutorials myself, and going slow just makes things drag.

Excellent thanks Mattykins I will end up getting the Gnomon one for sure :). Matte painting and camera mapping in 3d is so amazing. One of those hidden arts though not as hidden as the match movers. Can't wait to learn more on it.

On some of those Gnomon videos, they double speed the video or maybe even quadruple speed it. I think the theory is that you're not actually trying to do what the artist is doing. You're listening to them explain the technique while you watch it speed along at 4x.

Now that I think about it, I might have that DVD lying around somewhere.

I'll check when I get back home from work. I remember it being pretty good.

Hey Mattykins I was just curious if you got around to looking for it? I'm very curious as to what you think about it.

thanks again
Josh

Hmm, I can't seem to find it. I had thought I made a digital copy of the disk too - since I always lose DVDs. If I run across it, I'll let you know.
