any U2 fans over here? this came from two reliable sources New album Nov 18 mark your calendars in pencil until we find out more.

Sincerely, U2 are more concerned in their political and PR Agenda right now than to make music... It's been like this since probalby the Zooropa tour...

Their best album is still Joshua Tree. And their last great song, IMO, was ONE. And that was ages ago...

I can't find fault with the humanitarian work that any U2 members have done. If something as frivolous as the pursuit of art suffers from that, then so be it. I think their latest works have been very much in line with the Joshua Tree material- "three chords and the truth." From "MLK" to "Window In The Skies" a good chunk of their music has always involved politics. And you can't listen to a song like "Window In The Skies" and say that their music has suffered from their political consciousness. Those two elements feed on each other, they always have with U2.

Peace,
S-

I was happy with their recent work as well.
Been a fan since long before they made it big in North America.

Saw their last tour as well. They kick serious ass Live.

Joshua Tree is hard to beat, but I am one of those people who really liked dismantle.

Regardless I will pre order this record...

Great Year new albums from Coldplay, Sigur Ros and now U2.

I'm such a U2 fan that they could announce the next record was a cover record of '50s showtunes and I'd say it was a genius move.

Dismantle was such a solid album and had, what I felt, was the addition of introspection to the songs. A lot of those lyrics were more about Bono than anything. Especially Original of the Species which feels like a man singing to himself.

I can't wait for the new album. It's always like revisiting old friends.

My pick for best U2 album is Achtung Baby. I'll put that up against anything ever recorded. Bach? Mozart? Forget it. Achtung Baby. :)

I hear the music.. I hear them trying.. but nothing they've done since TJT has even really come close to resonating with me the same way. Every new record sounds more and more like soulless corporate yuppie feel good music for people to listen to and feel like they're actually doing something to make the world a better place simply by driving around in their BMW SUVs and storing U2 on the hard drive of the stereo. I miss rightious angry Bono. Ghandi Bono makes me want to change the station. Coldplay stole U2's secret sauce awhile back and improved on it. What I'd love to see is U2 playing rock music again.. with a little attitude. Ah well, wishful thinking.

"Wait a second people the mans talking about waste management and that effects the whole damn planet"

The Unforgettable Fire is awesome
Achtung Baby unreal
Zooropa a trip
POP awesome as well
however in All that you can't leave behind I started to see a decline in the song writing and in Dismantle they were using some of the same chords as in ATYCLB songs!!!???
they said that the new album is molten metal driven, saw them in 2001 at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, and in 2005 at Staples Center.

I love U2, and I can't believe people sleep on War, which is easily their best album. I have loved everything they put out before and since, but that to me was U2 at their finest.
