Why do people hate Michael Bay so much?

Look, it's all about how it's done. When Spielberg is at his best I feel like I'm being entertained by a master showman. With Bay I feel like I'm being entertained by a cheap hooker.

Master showman or cheaper hooker either way you stayed for the ride. I loved Transformers and like Bad Boys 1 and loved 2. Didn't see all of the Island but I wasn't impressed with what I saw. But honestly Minority Report and a lot of Spielberg's films just feel "bigger".

As for the writing on Tranformers, that wasn't Bay and every Transformer fan I know loved that film. It was written a lot like the cartoon. Casting Peter Cullen as Optimus was an awesome move. I was more of a GI Joe fan as a kid and watched Transformers because it came on after GI Joe and I was too lazy to get up to change the channel. But even I loved this film and cheered a lot. Bay does a good job.

I guess everyone does not hate the guy. myself included. I am looking forward to Transformers 2. And Friday the 13th, he's a producer on it. I did like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre that Nispel did. That movie was brutal.

I'm not sure, but I think this has out-paged Anhar's haiku thread.

Endless pages of
bile for Michael Bay's success
give the guy a break

I only read the 1st page of this thread, but I dig the guy's movies, and ESPECIALLY his attention to camera work that always inspires such epic feelings & moments. In BERLIN, I had our circle shot specifically because of inspirations from Michael Bay, and it's probably one of the most complimented shots in the short.
