Moving just isn't nearly stressful enough obviously, so the people at Brighthouse Cable decided to help me out. I called a week in advance, and schedule for installation of Cable, Internet, and phone service for Tuesday the 15th between 12 and 2- the day we are to move in. My wife reminds me I have a Doctor's appointment at 1:45 that day, so I call back and ask to have it pushed back to between 4 and 6 of the same day.
Around 6:15, we still haven't heard from anybody, so we call. Nobody has a clue where the field tech is, so they tell us he should be here within half an hour. 45 minutes later, still no tech and we call again. Same song and dance, he should be there in half an hour. Another 45 minutes go by, and still no tech. I call again, and they tell us he came by the day before. I tell them I don't care who it is that shows up, but I want somebody to get their ass out their and do the job, but I am informed they don't send techs out after 8. I give them very graphic details as to what they can do with their service.
The next day, my wife insists she wants Brighthouse and calls them to schedule again. We get 12 to 2 on Friday the 18th. By 4:30 I have called several times and talked to several supervisors, and wasted almost an hour on the phone, only to have them say they can't find the tech and will talk to dispatch. I start telling them I need to have it done so I can leave at 6:30 to pick up my wife. At 6:35 as I am on the way to pick her up, I get a call from one of the customer service people saying the tech can be there at 7:30. I inform them there is no way in hell I can be back that soon, and won't risk our safety or a traffic violation for somebody that was supposed to be there 6 hours ago. He puts the supervisor on again.
Supervisor- "The tech will be there at 7:30."
Me- "You people have been telling me he is going to be here in 30 minutes all day. I can't wait for him to "Maybe" show up, I need to pick up my wife and I won't be back until 7:45-8:00. "
Supervisor- "Well, we can't have our tech waiting there!"
Me- "Why not? He had no problem keeping me waiting all day, not to mention he was originally supposed to be there Tuesday."
Supervisor- "That isn't our problem. You'll have to call Customer Service and reschedule."
So, I reschedule for the next morning between 8-10. He finally shows up around 12. I got at least 2 different supervisors give me a $20 credit off our bill, when I wasted almost 3 days waiting, and $20 on my cell phone trying to get the tech to show up.
What have we learned? Not only can't TimeWarner employees tell time, but they can't read a calendar either... but that isn't their problem.
