New contender fo worse customer service

Moving just isn't nearly stressful enough obviously, so the people at Brighthouse Cable decided to help me out. I called a week in advance, and schedule for installation of Cable, Internet, and phone service for Tuesday the 15th between 12 and 2- the day we are to move in. My wife reminds me I have a Doctor's appointment at 1:45 that day, so I call back and ask to have it pushed back to between 4 and 6 of the same day.

Around 6:15, we still haven't heard from anybody, so we call. Nobody has a clue where the field tech is, so they tell us he should be here within half an hour. 45 minutes later, still no tech and we call again. Same song and dance, he should be there in half an hour. Another 45 minutes go by, and still no tech. I call again, and they tell us he came by the day before. I tell them I don't care who it is that shows up, but I want somebody to get their ass out their and do the job, but I am informed they don't send techs out after 8. I give them very graphic details as to what they can do with their service.

The next day, my wife insists she wants Brighthouse and calls them to schedule again. We get 12 to 2 on Friday the 18th. By 4:30 I have called several times and talked to several supervisors, and wasted almost an hour on the phone, only to have them say they can't find the tech and will talk to dispatch. I start telling them I need to have it done so I can leave at 6:30 to pick up my wife. At 6:35 as I am on the way to pick her up, I get a call from one of the customer service people saying the tech can be there at 7:30. I inform them there is no way in hell I can be back that soon, and won't risk our safety or a traffic violation for somebody that was supposed to be there 6 hours ago. He puts the supervisor on again.
Supervisor- "The tech will be there at 7:30."
Me- "You people have been telling me he is going to be here in 30 minutes all day. I can't wait for him to "Maybe" show up, I need to pick up my wife and I won't be back until 7:45-8:00. "
Supervisor- "Well, we can't have our tech waiting there!"
Me- "Why not? He had no problem keeping me waiting all day, not to mention he was originally supposed to be there Tuesday."
Supervisor- "That isn't our problem. You'll have to call Customer Service and reschedule."

So, I reschedule for the next morning between 8-10. He finally shows up around 12. I got at least 2 different supervisors give me a $20 credit off our bill, when I wasted almost 3 days waiting, and $20 on my cell phone trying to get the tech to show up.

What have we learned? Not only can't TimeWarner employees tell time, but they can't read a calendar either... but that isn't their problem.

I feel your pain, I noticed the best way to get heard, is not to explain your self over and over again, I simply make notes for the position and name of the individual and department they work in, I then make notes on the people and departments I've talked to (and any extensions they give)

this helps build a map of the place, also the people at the front end (secretary) don't have a clue, they are just the gate keepers, the trick to bypass them:

(1) Phone withheld, pretend its for a different task, GET the name of the person in charge who can handle your query, note name down when given (be polite and cheerful)

(2) call back later tell them that person X told you to call them now and to be put through... (they just comply) :D

thats a good one, i got a few also.

A few years ago we had cable internet with Adelphia, after about 6 months the TV's started to get a little fuzzy and out cable internet kept dropping.

So the first tech comes and replaces all the connectors in the house because the signal was not the best, after he did that and retested it he said it was good.

So one week later its dropped again, we call back and have another tech come out the next day. He comes out and does his test on the line and then says its the wire from the pole to the house, but claimed he cant get to it from our yard. This was his last shift and he wanted to get home. So he went home.

The next day another tech shows up to replace the cable and claims the same thing...
So we get a supervisor on the phone and in 45 minutes he is at our door and replacing the cable himself from our yard!!!!

It ended up being animals eating the cable, he said he was going to show the cable at next weeks meeting....

We stayed with them for about 2 months more and then got DSL because the area was oversold.

======================================

Now TimeWarner has taken over the area service is a little better you would think...

To save money we got there all in one deal, so the tech comes to install it and was pulling at my phone 66 block and i keep telling him that i already made a jack for the line.
After that he says that they haven't had the proper training on the deceive. SO when he leaves all is working, about 2 hours later the internet dies. I call time warner and they look in the box and see that the internet is disabled. They re-enable it and it still wont work, and the next tech visit is 6 days away. So i say ok.
6 days later they come and reboot the device and it starts working.

2 months later we start getting dropouts every morning for about 1 hour, so i called tech support and they said it is the modem that they gave us. And said to go to the local office and get a regular modem.

Right before going to the office i called the operator and made sure it was a normal swap out and that is was free, and she said yes they do it all the time.

So when we get there the clerk says that she has never heard of that problem and would have to charge us $35 a month for the modem, she was thinking that we where going to use it in a separate room. And the only thing she could do was have a tech come out.

Next morning a tech comes out and was unable to do anything, except have a higher level tech come the next day. So he comes and finally gets the internet working on its own modem with out the $35 charge....

We had Brighthouse a few years ago, and it was so bad. With their RoadRunner highspeed internet, I was blazing away at 46-52 kbps, not to mention the digital cable would drop out regularly even on Sunny days. They checked this, changed that, and in the end just shrugged their shoulders and said "It works, and that is all we'll guarantee." We dropped them like a cheating girlfriend with the crabs and got DirecTV satellite instead.

We switched to Bell South when they got DSL in the neighborhood, and all was good... until ATT took them over. I even have other stories, but nobody has ever pumped Sunshine up my backside like these guys did.

I called AT&T this afternoon, and they will have my phone and DSL reconnected tomorrow morning... and I actually believe them! I have never really been happy with TimeWarner, and it just keeps getting worse. In the middle of moving, I dropped everything and drove back an hour to be on time. They couldn't even be their on the right day.

I have found that Time Warner employees really like handguns. I went in there one day with a Glock 17 and they were more than happy to help me out.

"Siiirr, Right this way! now how can I help you?"
"may I have the honour to polish your shoes too, sir?"

wow, you guys get internet over cable lines? all i have is a us robotics 33.6k modem that i have to plug into the phone jack.

I had to call Antec today to ask about why my laptop cooling fan exploded the other day.

And I gave the entire song and dance that it wasn't my fault, all the issues I had. And he kept interrupting me with: sounds like you have a faulty fan sir, we can send a new one out for you.

Needless to say, I have never experienced that before. No blaming me for it exploding, no scooting around warranty, just - yeah, it's broken, we will replace it.

I was a happy man this morning.

ouch, i would go crazy!!!

haha. okay i don't really have that, but i remember it like it was yesterday. it totally sucks when the cable goes out and a tech has to come over, but it's way better than the olden days.

what do you guys have and how much do you pay?

i currently have the cox value plan. $29.99 for 1.5mbps/ 256kbs

Sounds like German T-Online. But actualy they all suck.
Internet Providers, Webspace Providers, Cellphone Companys no mater wich one you chose, in the moment you have a problem and dial that expensive number you lost.

I always wonderd why I have to call a pay number when they messed something up.
