Why is my audio always panned to -1?

Everytime I either capture or import audio, it is always panned to -1. I thought this was an error and have always been returning it to zero, for both my actor's dialogue and my music. It's never been a problem. I just did that with some audio, though, and I ended up removing all the reverb from the track so I had to return it to -1 to make it sound normal again. Is this just the way Final Cut is set up and should is it panned to -1 for another reason? Thanks in advance.

You are importing two tracks as a stereo pair; the left one is panned -1 and the right one +1.

In Your capture settings, you can change the default to capture "dual mono", and the tracks will both be panned to center (0).
