Edit.: lets say you are editing on FCP. Any HD format. And you want to export to a file that can be used in Premier Pro. I want to export HD but at this point I don't care about anything other than it is HD and can be edited on PP.

Any ideas?

So I shot on DVCPROHD and find out the client uses Premier Pro. So they want me to deliver the HD footage in .m2t format to be edited on a PC.

I downloaded MPEG Scream clip but now sure if this is the best solution. Any ideas?

Not a good way to go- m2t is a lousy format with lots of compression. It's much better if they do the conversion themselves. Send as a Quicktime file with the animation codec. That will preserve the image quality and they can convert within Premiere to something they like without losing a bunch of image quality. You can use the media manager to make a copy of your entire edit into the codec and then deliver on hard drive.

Just make sure to do it via network or get the Paragon plugin for Mac so you can format and send on an NTFS drive. If you send a Mac OS Extended Journaled drive it will appear as unreadable on a PC and FAT-32 will not permit files over 4GB on Mac.

If they use Premiere Pro, are they using the latest version? Premiere Pro CS3 has native support for HVX200 footage right from the MXF files.

Thanks for posting Barry. We are dealing with a less than brilliant company so sending them MXF files is not going to cut it.

I need to send the some sort of file that they can edit with. So what is the best HD format and file type that I can export out of FCP that will be easily usable on a PC and Premier Pro?

It's animation like I said- if you send them DVCPROHD QuickTimes they will not be able to open them on a PC. Animation is the best cross-platform codec for quality. On the PC they can't read DVCPROHD or ProRes which would be the preferred formats so animation. Or if they care more about small files than quality H.264 can also be read in the current version of QuickTime for windows.
