LEX Panasonic AG-HVX200 Optimization Kit Problem/Question

Hi,
I've finally bought the new LEX achromat for my HVX200. Problem is that the new achromat that I receive doesn't have a metal ring for like the old one : it's just a piece of glass. How am I suppose to fit that? Am I suppose to use my old ring? Or did Letus forget to send me a "correct" package?:(

Thanks for your help!

Mine was shipped installed in a new ring. You should probably contact them and inquire. It looks like they made an error unless there's an easy way to swap the lens that I don't know about.

Aaron is very responsive through their support forum, so I'm sure you'll get help quick.

Best of luck.

That's what I feared... Man, it looks this whole endeavor (LEX) while never end :(. First it was dust, then a new mount to get a decent backfocus, and now this...

/Edit: Just to clarify, even with all those things, I'm still confident that Letus will be able to help me fix my adapter... I just wish it would have been a little cheaper to get there.

Dude that's nothin!

Since I decided to get the LEX optim kit:

I've had 3 achromats shipped to me. 2 broken on arrival & one with a dodgy thread!

Hien is shipping me a new one personally. I can't believe they shipped you one without a ring... HOLY CRAP!

Regards,

Ben

Definitely. It's a joke letting that many dodgy items through QC. What makes matters worse is I'm in Australia & they take three effing weeks to get here.

I just received the upgraded Nikon mount. It has scratches on it, has that "used" feeling. Maybe it was used as a test item, but the scratches make me feel my $60 plus shipping had gone down the drain.

I also have problem with the lens mount itself. The plastic lens mount cap does not open as it should as on the Nikon camera. When I finally took the cap off, it has quite visible friction mark inside the cap. As the cap is molded plastic, I believe the problem stems from the mount itself. I finally see a better mount design but the quality control is very disappointing.

All in all, I am not at all satisfied with this "upgrade". Return or exchange is the only way now.

That's pretty much how I feel. I've been without my functioning LEX for months now. Ever since I purchased the upgrade everything went downhill. I would ask for a refund but I paid so DAMN much to get the thing through customs it just isn't worth it.

they ship the achromat without a metal ring for the older lex's (with the rubber push-in ring). the newer lex's use the metal screw-in achromats. looks like there was a mix-up somewhere down the line.

It's probably what happen. I wasn't aware that they're was 2 kinds of achromats (screw-in and push-in, like you said). Before ordering, I contacted LetusDirect support and mentioned my intention about ordering a HVX200 upgrade kit and that my LEX was ordered on Oct 26, 2007. The answer to this was that when I order, leave a message in the "customer notes" during checkout stating that I "need the rubber ring version of the HVX achromat".

It's pretty clear that this instruction was wrong. He probably thought that my HVX was an older model since it was ordered in october 2007. An honest mistake.

I still have hope in Letus and that I'll get a properly functioning LEX.

-==Small update==-
It's seems that achromat sent was indeed the wrong one. Their was mention of sending me another achromat ASAP...

Interesting. SG takes the same approach for their achromat with the bare glass and ring. I wonder how well the two can be swapped given the similar flip designs.
