ok, i'm sure we're all familiar with the phrase 'The dingo got my baby!' or 'the dingo ate my baby!' right, but here's a little test...

Can you tell me what movie that line originated from?

I just saw this movie last night and it's quite good. but i had no idea that's where the line came from....

NO CHEATING, don't google it to find the answer or that takes the fun out of it.....

so who knows?

If memory serves it was Meryl Streep and the movie was terrible, don't remember the name. Also, "ate" a misconception I believe. The actual quote is, "A dingo got my baby". I think :)

yeah i don't believe she ever says it ate her baby, just 'the dingo got my baby!'... it's weird to me that this line is so famous but the movie itself is not.

i liked the movie tho! it's based on a true story.

you're thinking of the right one... but does anyone else know?

Yeah, Meryl Streep in A Cry in the Dark. But I'll always remember the line that Elaine on Seinfeld said, "Maybe the dingo ate your baby."

It's definitely from "A Cry in the Dark", although my favorite memory of that line is from Frasier. Niles is looking after a pretend baby (a sack of flour) and the dog Eddie gets a hold of it. Daphne says (in an australian accent), "Don't look now, but that Dingo's got your baby."

yes, congrats to you Blaine! A Cry In The Dark is right.

i was surprised to know this is a true story of a dingo making off with someone's baby at ayre's rock. at first when she started yelling 'the dingo's got my baby!' in her australian accent i couldnt help but laugh!!!! but then i was like, woa, that really happened to someone? and then no one even believed their story and though she murdered her own baby and she went to JAIL! i think it's really an interesting movie.

my mind always goes to Elaine too, she was the best, but that time on frasier was pretty funny too :)

well that was a quick game.. ha haha.

Well maybe now we can just turn it into a thread about Australia?

"Just a lil kick in the bum"

The movie was bad, but not as bad as Streep's haircut.

i disagree that the movie was bad. why do you think so?

but i agree on her haircut... very terrible! they really looked like an australian family tho... sam neil reminded me of the crocodile hunter ;)

Okay, let me rephrase. The movie wasn't bad in the objective (as possible) sense. It just wasn't my taste. I thought Sam was really good, as was Streep. But it was one of those instances where I kept seeing the star instead of the character. Meryl Streep with a bowl cut....hard to get past that for me.

i was actually enthralled by it. just to think that actually happened to people, and no one would believe them. and to know where that saying came from was really quite interesting!
