Hi everyone, I work with my dad editing marriage and event videos. I enjoy working with said videos, but now I've reach an obstacle. My dad want's me to import the video into the computer in the same raw quality, edit said video and and render it back with the same dvd quality, even better in HD format. Could someone give me tips on how to accomplish this? I'm using Sony Vegas 8.0b build (217).:undecided

the camera is a HDV Sony SR12 Digital

You use Windows Explorer to mount the camera via USB, and you copy the .mts files on a folder on your PC. Then you edit these mts files with Vegas. At the end, in the "Render as" screen there are some ways to export, including an AVCHD export way and a DVD exporting way (all part of templates).

Well, you can get it into Vegas wtihout losing anything, then render it to a lossless YUV Codec like the Sony YUV or HuffYUV. Then edit it.

However, if he wants you to make a new DVD, then it is impossible to do it lossless. Recompressing that footage to Mpeg2 will create loss. You can make it "good", but you can't do it lossless.
