Tv Logic Monitor - Review Anyone?

I'm in the market for a new on board monitor. Looking to spend up to 2500.00. I want to know if anyone can give a thorough review on the TV Logic's 7" monitor. I love the Panny L80, I just with it had loop through. I've outgrown my Marshall. I'm seriously considering Nebtek's.

So who has used the TV Logic? Love to hear from you. Please, fanboys stay at home.

I've rented the TV Logic several times when my 17" Panny was too big/heavy to bring to location. AFAIK it is the only little monitor that can play back embedded audio coming in thru the HDI cable. My clients love that feature during playback instead of waiting for the soundrecordist to find the right cable/connectors for audio playback. I had to pay another $300 to get my 17" LCD to play embedded audio.
This feature works great w/HPX cameras,XDCAM, EX, Varicam and any camera w/HDI out.
Screen quality is great but I've never done side by side comparisons w/Panny monitors. I'll bet they don't "match" out of the box but hopefully they can be set up to be close. I've used the Panny 9" LCD ( supposedly the same LCD as the Carrion ) which is the gold standard of LCD sceens to many folks. The 8" Panny is supposedly a close second. The 9" has great off axis viewing, better than the TV Logic which seems to have great horizontal off axis viewing, but less vertical off axis viewing. It may be rated at 140 degrees but I felt it was much less.
TV Logic has more input/outputs than the Panny , great for looping signal. Unit is mounted on a yoke but I think it has a mount on top as well. I think yoke is removable but I found it handy to screw onto a lightstand for client monitoring.
This 7" monitor weighs just over 2lbs so it could be mounted to camera and run off the camera's AB batt. mount using a powertap cable to a 4pin xlr cable. Downside for me and other AB owners is that the default batt. mount on the unit is V Mount (Sony,IDX). AB makes an adaptor plate for $120 and adds a little more weight. Monitor comes with a little seperate power supply that lessens the unit's weight.
Of course the wf/vector scope features are really cool, but they only work with HDI output, so HVX cameras won't work. I think TV Logic sells the same monitor for a couple hundred dollars less w/o the wf/vector scope features.
I still haven't seen/used the Nebtek or Carrion monitors, but I think the size, weight, features and especially the embedded audio feature would sell me on the TV Logic. It's all metal constuction too, I think. very robust with 2 yr warranty.

They recently introduced a 9" LCD that is supposedly the cat's meow but I think it my cost 4-5 grand.

Not the most thorough review, but I have had more experience with this monitor than all the other little monitors.

Thanks for the info. Are there any focus features? Both Carrion and 9" Panny are too big. I do dig the vectorscope/waveform, indispensable for location work.

I agree that these TV Logic monitors are amazing!

I've checked them out at the Zacuto booth at NAB and CineGear and they are definitely tip top.

I know Steve and Becky at Zacuto have a lot of experience using these monitors and they'd be my first reference for anyone interested. Why not you give them a call!

I use a 46"and a 17" TV logic monitor at work for 8 hours a day. They look amazing. I do audio post and the fact that they have a 2 scan line delay more than makes up for the price. Most other LCD's we looked at have 2 frame delays or greater. They are a pleasure to look at and the clients love them. Lots of inputs, blue only, and a vast array of scan options.

Love my TVLogic!
