New lightwave news pole

Anyone checked out this new pole from lightwave? No metal components except the 3/8 stud, and its fully strippable to clean/service/whatever. Its also damn reasonable at $380.

If anyone has tried one, what are your thoughts on build quality/weight/max length of the pole?

I'm thinking of getting one for my day to day/dont need a long boom type shoots.

It looks like it's fairly short - so it might be worth it if you need a shorter pole. For me, I'm looking for a long pole right now, so they don't work for me. And, the XLR for the wired version is on the bottom, not on the side. I have a K-tek pole with the plug on the bottom and I am going to avoid that location in the future.

likewise phil, i got a k-tek with a right angled xlr. but at the moment i'm looking for a SUPER light and very short pole that i can sort of strap to my bag when not in use for general sort of running around.

that pole is 8foot2 when extended - thats not very at all, which is making me wonder if its TOO short for a short pole.

i like the connector design though, i think it looks good. anyone actually tried one?
 
Lightwave, a great company like 7 years ago, was bought out by Rycote, aka robber barons.

I can personally attest to the fact that after they were bought out their customer service went to nil.

As to the pole, I won't bother with anything under 9 feet but plenty of other guys include these "travel poles" in their arsenal. I actually do have an old Lightwave aluminum pole that worked pretty good for such a cheap price. But that was designed and sold before they were bought by Rycote.

Defiantly report back if you get one Tim.

Must be something personal - I have always found Rycote excellent in both product quality and customer service.

For shockmounts - I would not use anything else - the design is the best on the market, bar none, at any price.
 
check cinela , you will surprise to find something much better ,
rycote - i wish them bankruptcy :-)
and yes this is personal as was robbed for long time
