Hi there guys,

How do you guy's add ND filters to windows so that the outside does not blow out so much?

do you use eg. Lee filters 1.2ND (299) sheet and put it over the window and stick the corners on the window frame?

or is there a specific product?

thanks for the help,
Derrick

You cut the gel to fit the window pane perfectly, then apply a soapy water solution with a spray bottle to the window then use a squeegee to apply the gel.

ND gel comes in various densities in 1 stop increments generally indicated by .3 (1 stop), .6 (2 stops), and .9 (3 stops.) ND gel also comes with a correction built in for daylight.

You can also get "window grip" which is ND gel with a low tack adhesive AND you can get clear ND plexiglass.

.

aaahhh, I thought about the soapy trick, I use that when applying vinyl.

water with very little soap I presume?

But thought it might mess with the optics trhough the window, guess I was wrong, he he.

thanks.
Derrick

squeegieing. (is that even a real word?)
Yes it is (the spelling would be: squeegeeing):

squeegee |ˈskwēˌjē|
noun
a scraping implement with a rubber-edged blade set on a handle, typically used for cleaning windows.
• a similar small instrument or roller used esp. in photography for squeezing water out of prints.
• [usu. as adj. ] informal a person who cleans the windshield of a car stopped in traffic and then demands payment from the driver : squeegee guys at every corner | the squeegees wait at busy intersections.
verb ( -gees |ˈskwiˈdʒiz|, -geed |ˈskwiˈdʒid|, -geeing |ˈskwiˈdʒiɪŋ|) [ trans. ]
clean or scrape (something) with a squeegee : squeegee the shower doors while the surfaces are still wet.
ORIGIN mid 19th cent.: from archaic squeege [to press,] strengthened form of squeeze .
