"Is it a Porno"

So I was out scouting for coffee shops for my film, and I was asked more than once. "It's not like a porno or something is it?"

Why?
WHY!?

Can people not accept that there are people out there who make actual films for no profit? lol

Yeah try looking for a motel room and fielding those kinds of questions. We needed a motel room for one scene in Corrado. No, not that kind of scene!

Yeah, I've had the same with motels.

But the last Bar/club location I got, the owner asked me: "Hey Mark, when we gonna make a porno???" :)

Pretend to be your own assistant, it's fun and you usually get a lot friendlier reception and it's easier to deflect questions. I think people figure if you can afford an assistant, you must be serious. (Although I'm sure pornography producers also have assistants)

I've had all kinds of people assume that's what I do. I keep telling them that I'd have a hell of a lot more money if I did.

Wow, that's a great idea! I'll put that right there with the oversized mattebox
and the stick-on company logo for a personal car. I also think wearing black and
setting up your cell phone to ring every 5 minutes helps.

I have never come so close to actually vomiting whilst watching a movie - as I did with that scene. It actually made me dry-retch several times.

Foul, foul, foul...

*coffee shop owner begins reading script*

"I like my coffee... I like it hot and black... so I grabbed a seat in this corner coffee shop... I told the waitress to bring me something hot to sip on... with something sweet... to dip in it. She was eager to follow my orders, and I could see her getting nice tips... even though she slammed that cup down and broke my biscotti, but I wasn't worried about making a mess on her counter, because any real man could see she'd have no problems cleaning it up."

What!? I can't have the coffee shop? Why not???
