export HD with H.264, just shows black

Hey,

So i just got an HD camera and i'm playing around with the export settings to see what works.

i love using H.264 for normal SD footage, it turns out great, so i wanted to use it for HD as well.

It turns out, after i export it...all i get is a black screen, but audio is good.

i tried WMV, I'm getting an image and audio, but H.264 isn't...not sure whats wrong.

btw, i'm using the media encoder option through cs3.

I know this may sound stupid but I just have to ask, are you sure export video is checked off prior to exporting? I'm sure you already checked on this but hey, anythings possible & it's all I can think of at the moment.

haha, yeah i checked on that after the second test try...it is checked off, don't worry its not a stupid question, it does happens sometimes.

mmmm, actually come to think of it, i may know why...off to check my theory, i'll report back in a few.

so my theory didn't pan out, i thought maybe it was the preset i was using, turned out it was in the NTSC DV preset..so i tried the HD presets, but still none of them worked.

what does work though is if i export -> movie as Microsoft avi none, then use quicktime pro to export as .MOV (h.264)

maybe it's cause i'm using cineform, it doesn't properly export the image, cause i tried exporting-> movie using cineform avi, then using quicktime pro to export as .mov it gives me weird looking picture.

I think your solution is the best practice workflow anyway.

I dont think that Adobe Media Encoder does a great job with QT.
