Hi All,
I have been shooting catalog photos where I work for many years now. We've always used Savage seamless background paper, but I'm having a problem with it. It's great for wide shots of larger products, but on closeups, you can see the "grain" of the paper. We have Lowel tungsten continuous lighting - two stands and one boom, all with translucent white umbrellas. I've tried shooting through the umbrellas for softer light, and reflecting from the umbrellas for broader light, but I still have the same problem. I'm using a Pentax K200D D-SLR, and Sigma 28-105mm lens.
Does anyone have any experience with using any sort of mylar or vinyl as a background? I'd like something in solid colors, without any pattern. I'd like something with a little "sheen", but not something that is highly reflective. Any and all ideas, thoughts or comments are welcome. Thanks in advance!
