Ive looked up movie magic budgeting and its only on OS 9, lol. like seriously?

so im looking for some valuable alternatives. not worried about price. i dont want some 30 dollar shareware unless its the greatest thing ever ya know.

Thanks a ton

I'm using Gorilla by Jungle Software. It is great for budgeting and scheduling and interfaces with Final Draft and MM Screenwriter. It is geared specifically toward the independent producer. When I went through on of their familiarization seminars, James Keach and his 1st AD and UPM where there with him. They used it on Walk the Line.

The offer a trial download. Not sure how helpful it will be, having never used it myself. The software runs $399 for the professional version.

you mean your not sure how helpful the trial version will be , because you havnt used the trial version?

oh and thanks a ton as well, blaine, rapid response winnar!

Yeah, that's what I meant, kinda. The trial version is basically the same version, just doesn't let you print (I believe). To really learn the software, you need a project to try it out on. At the time I originally got the software, it was hard to delete a project so I waited to learn it until I had a project to use it on. I would have liked to know more before actually having to use it. It's very easy to delete a project now so it should be no big deal just to try stuff out.

The documentation is okay but there are a couple spots I seem to remember aren't as clear as they should be, but it's still pretty easy to figure out. I am very happy with the software and happy to recommend it to anyone needing this type of software. I don't know what you use for screenwriting but in FD7 (with Tagger) and MM Screenwriter, you break the script down and export it as an .sex file then import into Gorilla and bingo, you have your breakdown sheets with everything you've broken down from the script.

Excellent! Good to know about the questionably named .sex file, ;) Now i wonder if with an unlimited license we can have it work on 2 macs and 2 pc's here in the office. or if we are stuck to one OS. :/

thanks again blaine

I don't think that's a problem, but you might want to check with them. They're pretty good about answering questions.

I'd second Gorilla. The guys at the company have always been super quick to answer questions, and there is a good users group as wel.
