Should I buy this Arri kit?

I'll start with a preemptive disclaimer.

I have spent the better part of three months reading books, articles and forums like DVXuser while considering what to buy. My brother Lukas has done the same. That being said, I know that many of you know more about this subject than I do, and I would love some input.

After two years of being handicapped by my eBay-special, flickering, open face britek lights, Lukas decided to replace our kit. After aforementioned research, we generally know what we want. Here it goes:

Our budget is $2000-2500

(2) 1000 Watt Open Face or Fresnels, (I have two crappy 1K open face briteks already)
(2) 650 Watt Fresnels
(1) 300 Watt Fresnel
(5) Stands for said lights
(5) Barndoors
a softbank, various diffusion material, gels, foamcore, blackwrap, etc.

I would love to throw a couple of quality C stands in the mix, and a 5-in-1 reflector. I realize with the budget that we are looking at, this may not be doable, but we want to do the best we can.

We have considered Cool Lights and like what they are doing, but Lukas is moving back to LA in September, and wants to get Arris or a comparable brand (and maybe rent them out at some point).

We found this kit:

It has a lot of what we want, but not everything and it eats most of our budget. Based on our list, should we buy this kit or is there a better solution that we have missed? Comments are appreciated.

I'd instead go with this kit...

I know it's a bit more $$ but you get the Chimera softbank. If you're doing any interview-type lighting, this is indispensable. Arri's are great lights.

Another thing I'd recommend is this reflector kit...

I use mine for practically every interview shoot, it packs down into an easy-to-carry bag. Bounce your soft key off this thing (using the white fabric) for your fill, and it makes a really nice super-soft look imo. Plus, it eliminates the need for a light....less power, less heat, etc... It comes with translucent, silver, gold and black fabric also. Black turns it into a huge flag. I got an extra stand and clamp on the side. That way, I can elevate it and place it above the subject when shooting outside with a bright overhead sun.

I have been using the Softbank I and I LOVE it.

1K plastic casing melts? Huh... that's new to me... I have used my 1K for 12 hours straight in the middle of the summer heat and no melting what-so-ever.

I don't recall ever seeing or using one that didn't have a melted cover. Maybe they upgraded their plastic in the past few years...

Thanks Chris & Chris for the tips. We ended up going with a DeSisti kit from B&H with a 1k Cosmobeam that has a metal housing. Fingers crossed until it arrives, but I can't imagine that will be anything but an improvement over what we had.
