Pulling my hair out with Cineform!!!!

Ugh! Cineform is driving me crazy. The concept is great, but there are always so many bugs. I recently switched my whole operation over to Mac and FCP and the Apple 422 codec is incredible! However, I still have some projects on my windows machine using Adobe CS3 stuff. The original footage is EX1, so in order to get any stability with color correction and generational use is by going through Cineform Prospect HD. Seriously, yesterday Premiere crashed from Cineform files about two dozen times. I was just attempting to race against time each time. Plus, every time I've tried to render out to anything, it crashes part way through. This is what they (cineform) call an improved update? I'm going back to the older version (if my PC will let me). Cineform is NOT worth your money. You can buy Final Cut Studio in its entirety for nearly the same amount of money! I still enjoy Adobe programs, but my headaches are reduced significantly by using FCP.

Got it vise versa. Sometimes I´m hired to cut on FCP and I always hug my CS3 when I come back.

On a typical day I have at least 5-8 chrashes on Apple/FCP.

I had alot of problems with cineform (aspect HD) and Premiere and finally abandonded it for Raylight. Once CS3 (the 3.1 update at least) came out though I've been happy as a clam with my p2 workflow. The newest update provides support for the EX1/SxS files so you should be good to go I would think...

I get great results from Cineform, using it to extract flawless 24fps from the HV20. But gawd forbid you need to re-install Cineform on your system. After paying full price for the software, that is always my little nightmare--it never re-installs without contacting technical support.

You should have no crashes. Contact support (www.cineform.com/support) as will be solution. We have many EX1 users run under Prospect HD.

I've gotten all the updates to Cineform and Premiere, and it is crashing over and over no matter the machine I run it on (desktop or laptop). So I don't know what to tell ya. In fact, I've even had some critical errors in even accessing the folders the Cineform DI's are in.

Yes, I'll try contacting support.

Telling support would be a good start. We have no reports from any other user, so with you report they can look into it. If there is an introduced bug it can be fixed very quickly.

Don't know if it's common or just with me, but filling out a ticket didn't do me much good. It's now day nine after responding to their request to install the latest version, which didn't change a thing, and still no response.

Maybe trial users are kicked to a lower response priority, but I can't risk it. I'm done with them.

Jake... don't bother. A week ago it might have helped but now it would be a waste of my time since I've abandoned the evaluation.

Well Cineform Support has always been good to me. Whenever I submit a ticket, I hear back usually within one business day.

I edit Cineform/Premire CS3 but I RENDER Out under After Effects. I've noticed that if you do a lot of processing to the files (Color, motion blur, etc) Premiere can't handle the load. But After Effects works perfectly and even makes a little "chime" to let me know it's finished. so I don't have to keep coming back to the computer every 10 minutes to check. I can watch a movie the - "chime" - all done!

I have no idea why this guy was having problems with CF and CS3 but.....
I have had great results using Aspect and CS2. 2 years ago I had some big problems with aspect (memory leak), but Jake and gang were right there helping me out and we found the problems together, best support I've ever had with software.
So don't' let one bad experience sour you on CF and Premiere. Along with my jvc hd100 I have a great workflow, that works!

I have evaluated almost all the versions of both, Aspect HD and Prospect HD / 4K.

I own the last version of Aspect HD (v5.31 Build 119 ) in Adobe Premiere Pro and have never a problem.

I edit every format possible of video (SD, HDV, HD, etc.)

Sorry to see that some body gets disapointed with such a good product.

(by the way: wich product are you using?)
