I Process RAW Image Sequence in AE... then what export Codec to Premiere?

I have noticed that I am able to import Canon CR2 RAW timelapse image sequences I shoot directly into AE, adjust my RAW settings, then export beautiful (downsampled) video files directly from the RAW timeline.

However, at some point I am going to want to bring those clips into Premiere Pro for editing and adding music, etc. What is the best intermediate export I can use, so that when I drop the results into Premiere Pro CS3, I will not lose visiual fidelity?

thanks

you dont have to use any render in between PPRo and AE CS3. just use dynamic link, and imprt the AE project into premiere, and you will get your AE comp as a precomposed clip within PPRO without ANY intermediate rendering whatsoever. and if you want to edit anything in your original comp, you can just open it in AE and edit it, and it will auto update the precomp clip in your PPRO timeline. this saves yo the time and any image loss of doing an intermediate, and also affords you to make edits to the comp without the need for importing anything new to your PPRo project. its beautiful. :)

Even with RAW CR2 files? I've tried this and it has never worked for me before, because PP3 cannot ingest RAW files. I tried it jut now and it said something about an offline edit. It would not show the RAW images in the timeline for editing.

thanks Neil.

If RAW won't work, is there a good lossless intermediate I should use? I only need one generation to work with. In other words, I need to render, then drop it into PP3's timeline, then render out a final product.

it should work with any kind of file that your working with in AE. PPRO doesnt actually render the frames, but instead when you use dynamic link, it starts a background instance of AE which renders the frames in the background, and feeds them to PPRO for display in the specified editing codec on the PPRO timline. when using dynamic link you shouldnt be loading the individual raw images into the ppro timeline at all, but rather one preredered/precomposed clip of your AE timline all as one single clip which is the duration of your AE comp. its the same as if you prerendered your AE comp and imported it into your PPRO project in whatever codec your working with in PPRO at the time ..only you dont need to prerender because the background AE engine renders it to display for you and feeds it to PPRO, and when you go to the final render, it still pulls from the original material without any generation between to your final codec.
