Howdy,

I'm getting the following error message before batch capturing logged video:

WARNING: You are about to capture non drop-frame media to a drop-frame clip. If you proceed, you may experience changes in logged in and out points, problems relinking media, or removal of master clip relationships.

I shot my footage in 24P on the DVX100 camera, and I am importing using the Easy Setup DV-NTSC setting in FCP 5.14 on a MacBookPro.

Any idea why this is happening or how I can fix it? I've Googled around about this problem, but can't seem to find an answer (at least one that makes sense to me.)

Any help, much appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

Was looking for the answer to this myself and your post came up in a google search. I'm replying because I might have the answer.

First thing you should try, is to select all the clips in your browser for capture, then right click on the media start timecode. A menu should pop up allowing you to choose non drop frame or drop frame. Select the appropriate choice and see if it alters the drop frame call sign (changing the : to a ; in the far right time code column). Then try to capture the media.

If that doesn't work, here's my second suggestion.

I'm running final cut 5.1.4 off a 1.3mhz 12' powerbook. This model only has one firewire 400 port.

Since I don't have the benefit of a video card, I'm exporting video to an NTSC monitor via a firewire to a cannon camcorder and using that as a bridge to the RCA video input on the NTSC. At the same time, however, I'm capturing my video from a separate DV Cam deck, also connected by a separate firewire connection.

The way I did this was to daisy chain two external hard drives as a firewire hub, thereby extending the number of firewire ports at my disposal. So I've funneled the connections from the deck, the camcorder and the external drive (where I'm capturing the footage to) all through my single firewire 400 port on the laptop. (see where this is going?)

I found that when I had both the DV Cam deck and the camcorder on simultaneously connected via firewire, I got that non drop-frame media to a drop-frame clip warning you experienced. When I shut off the camcorder, however, I did not get that message and my clips captured without issue.

If you have some similar setup, you might want to consider shutting off one of your like devices and see if you get similar results. Hope this helps you (and anyone else experiencing the same thing).
