hey everybody,

i am going to have a computer built for me for editing.....

my main question is... is the new 64 bit version of the operating system XP compatible with vegas 6?

any help would be much appreciated...

i doubt it, but version 8 does and thats even a bit buggy as at times it crashes when opening up projects.

Sony Vegas has not be written for 64-bit systems. However, It will run in a 64bit environment using WoW. Windows on Windows is an emulator for 64bit that allows running of 32bit applications.

You will notice it when you install vegas and it puts it in a folder named this way, "Program Files (x86)". I run vegas on my 64bit system(Windows XP x64) with 8GB ram. My main purpose for vegas is for capturing since premiere is notorious sometimes about capturing video from my A1. So its possible to run the 6th edition as well since 64bit was out since 2003 or earlier. I run the 8th edition.

Hope that helps de-mystify you question.
