De Palma and the BOSTON STRANGLER

We're in agreement!
Didn't say Bundy caught him...just helped...and he did. The Bundy interviews were prior to DNA science being at a level where they could match tiny amounts. Once the science caught-up, they had 'Probable Cause' and finally arrested Ridgway in 2001. Once arrested (and after he cut the deal to avoid the death sentance), they found he had killed as late as 1998 and possibly into 2001!

Scary guy.

Cool! I may just do that.

I actually consider anything with Gary Sinise in it to be a guilty pleasure, no matter how bad . . . but bad is bad.

i have to say, depalma bad is not like regular bad. depalma's bad movies are watchable. There are millions of movies that come out everyday that are unwatchable.

I'd say DePalma's bad is worse, because it's a highly skilled badness. It's not inept, it's a very good director using all his powers to pull off a terrible idea.

You liked Black Dahlia? Man, that was unwatchable, except for the cinematography.

I know I know ...

The story was a bit all over, but I loved the Direction, Cinematography, the Noir, the Score ..........

I don't know; with Brian's vision, I get hypnotized

True enough !

I really liked the Black Dahlia. Great Directing, not only cinematography, IMO, with fantasticaly shot sequences. And I really have to point out Scarlett Johanson's character. Its fantastic. Damn sexy, but with a realism only he and the late Hitchcock knew how to portrait masterfuly. Sincerely, while i liked it in the first viewing, I liked it even more on the second.

And Snake Eyes... Its great "auteur" entertainment! That Steadicam opening is simply brilliant filmmaking. Its a fantastic thriller in a single, closed environment. I loved every minute of it!

He's, however, capable of directing terrible scripts. The Banderas fiasco (forgot the movie's name) that goes over in Cannes was mediocre, for example. Solid directing, camera placement and mise-en-scene, but nothing could save that script.
