I am shooting timelapses with my Nikon D3. The original image size is jpegs at 4256x2832. I wish to pan-scan in the timelapses, so how do I do that on a timeline that is made up of single jpeg frames at this size? The timeline is to end up in HD and it is to be intercut later with dvcpro hd from a HVX200.

thanks, soren

Well you would drop them all in order and then nest into another sequence. You can also put all of the files into one folder and then create an image sequence with the QuickTime Player. To be honest- this is a job that Shake or After Effect would do better.

save yourself some time and disk space by creating a reference movie with quicktime rather than compiling and comressing your frames. this reference movie will drop onto any timeline in fcp just fine and from there you can pan and scan. then you render and output from fcp.

I found out that there is a limit in the number of images you (I) can retime in FCP. In the end I made a QT ProRes HQ seq. imported that in Motion and did the retiming and saved it fullraster HD. 1920-1080 square pix.

But the fullraster loses detail imported in a 1440-1080 HDV seq. in FCP again.
Someone with an idea to solve that, i.e. ful raster square in a HDV nonsquare seq?
( that is a 1440 timeline but 1920 render out)
