1st time shooting people

Kegan, yes indeed, she´s a dancer.

triplej96, duplicate the background layer, put a b/w adjustment layer between them and put the blend mode from the layer on top on "soft light". that´s a nice effect.

Thanks for the tip I used that yesterday actually the "hollywood" effect as they call it. It just looks really nice with your photos. Like I said before I just love that last one!

Why did you use artificial light if it was sunny outside? They are great shots, 1st and 3rd are my favorite, but what is the reason of the artificial light? Could you have just bounced the sunlight with a silkscreen? If your reason is good then I might try this myself, because obviously your results are stunning, what kind of camera did you use also?

I don´t know how exactly it would have come out with bounced light. Sure, for simply putting light on the face bouncing would be enough. But if you want it to be more dramatic with light from the back (maybe towards the cam) artificial light is unavoidable I think.
My cam is the 400D and I used the kit-lens.

...another one.

Great looking shots. I love the one with the dancer--Lots of energy and really catches the eye. Would you mind sharing what kind of model/brand lights you're using? what about power sources? battery/building's ac/generator?

Oh well, just rented the stuff without really knowing. Those lights were from profoto and I had rechargeable batteries. That´s it, nothing special about it really.^^

Now this I like! I gotta start posting new photos soon. Good inspiration Phillip.

Great shot, Loving the lighting and comp...Subject matter isn't to hard to deal with either:) Could you comment on your setup? (on the last shot specifically)

Thanks a lot guys. :)

Setup: One light from the left, one light from the right. :cheesy:

Like I said, it was my first time so I was just experimentating with light and didn´t have a real plan. You are able to achieve just the same stuff, I´m sure.
